EU MSDS certification

MSDS (material safety data sheet) is chemical safety instruction, which can also be translated into chemical safety technical instruction or chemical safety data sheet. It is a document used by chemical manufacturers and importers to clarify the physical and chemical characteristics (such as pH value, flash point, flammability, reactivity, etc.) of chemicals and the possible hazards to the health of users (such as carcinogenesis, teratogenesis, etc.).
In European countries, MSDS is also known as safety data sheet (SDS). The international organization for Standardization (ISO) 11014 uses SDS terms, while the United States, Canada, Australia and many Asian countries use MSDS terms.
MSDS is a comprehensive legal document about the characteristics of chemicals provided to customers by chemical production or sales enterprises according to legal requirements. It provides the physical and chemical parameters of chemicals, combustion and explosion performance, health hazards, safe use and storage, leakage disposal, first aid measures and relevant laws and regulations. MSDS can be compiled by the manufacturer according to relevant rules. However, in order to ensure the accuracy and standardization of the report, we can apply to professional institutions for preparation.
MSDS should have the following contents:
1 - material and enterprise identification
Chemical name - usually the IUPAC or CAS name is given. Can also give other generic names and trade names, CAS registration number - required by OSHA, but most countries have legal requirements for reporting date - required by Japanese literature or the latest update date.
2 - material composition and composition information
Composition of the mixture - including all hazardous substances in excess of 1% and all carcinogens in excess of 0.1%. OSHA pel - whether the time weighted average limit is 8 hours per day or the maximum concentration exposure limit is an item on the OSHA list. In ppm or mg / M ³。 ACGIH TLV - maximum exposure limit, recommended by the US Government Industrial Health Congress.
3 - hazard identification
Health effects - adverse effects on target organs or systems, acute and chronic effects of overexposure to carcinogenic materials and test results.
4 - first aid measures
Exposure - inhalation, ingestion, eye contact, skin contact treatment.
5 - fire protection measures.
Fire and explosion data - usually including: flash point - temperature, at which the chemical vapor can be ignited, automatic ignition temperature - temperature, limit of spontaneous combustion flammability of chemicals in the air - above and below the concentration in the air, it can not burn the recommended fire extinguishing materials, not find the usual fire and explosion hazards, Basic instructions for solving fire situations may include NFPA diamond markings.
6 - accidental release measures
Procedures for cleaning up small and large spills specific provisions for chemical spills around cites.
7 - operation and storage
Provide safe storage and safe use of relevant materials.
8 - exposure control / personal protection
Types of protective equipment, including gloves, clothing, eye protection, respiratory protection, if a hood, glove box or additional ventilation is necessary. Management controls such as preplacement and regular medical checks will indicate the type of shower and eyewash facilities.
9 - physical and chemical properties
Generally include such chemical information as boiling point, melting point, vapor pressure, specific gravity, solubility in water, and evaporation rate, physical properties such as physical state, appearance and odor.
10 - stability / reaction
Indicates a stable substance, what causes instability and incompatibility, and if hazardous decomposition products are possible, conditions can also be included.
11 - toxicological information
Includes one or more of the following operations:
LC50 (median lethal concentration 50) - gas or microgram per liter of dust or smoke material in the air, expressed in PPM concentration dose test, the results of 50% of the dead animals exposed to a single exposure management. The information contained may have an impact on the reproductive system.
12 - ecological information
Materials that can be used to provide information about the impact of materials can have on plants and animals, providing information about the fate of materials on the environment.
13 - disposal considerations
Appropriate waste treatment methods.
14 - Transportation Information
Provide basic transportation requirements - Transportation name and classification, packaging requirements and quantity limit.
15 - regulatory information
EPA and OSHA regulations related to cites.
16 - other information
