Phthalate test

Phthalate ester, also known as phthalate ester, abbreviated PAEs, is a general term for esters formed by phthalate( In short, a plasticizer) when used as a plastic plasticizer, it generally refers to the ester formed by phthalic acid and 4 ~ 15 carbon alcohols. Dioctyl phthalate is the most important variety. Phthalates are a kind of chemicals that can soften and interfere with the endocrine system.
Phthalates are mainly used in PVC materials to change PVC from hard plastic to elastic plastic and play the role of plasticizer. It is widely used in toys, food packaging materials, medical blood bags and hose, vinyl floor and wallpaper, cleaners, lubricants, personal care products (such as nail polish, hair spray, soap and shampoo) and hundreds of other products. But in recent years, the environmental health hazards caused by these compounds have been affected by environmental science and public health. Widespread attention from the media and even the general public.
Detection standard of phthalate ester:
EN 14372 safety requirements and test methods for children's products (European standard, Soxhlet extraction method)
EN 15777 Textiles - Test Method for phthalates (European standard, Soxhlet extraction method)
Cpsc-ch-c1001-09.3 standard operating procedure for phthalate ester test (American Standard, using dissolution solidification method)
Health Canada method C34 determination of phthalates in PVC products (Canadian standard, dissolution method)
GB / T 22048 toys and children's products Determination of phthalate plasticizers in polyvinyl chloride plastics (Chinese standard, Soxhlet extraction method)
Restrictions on phthalates in directive 2005 / 84 / EC:
The concentration of class 3 phthalates (DEHP, DBP and BBP) contained in plastics for toys or child care products shall not exceed 0.1%.
Toys and child care products with DEHP, DBP and BBP concentrations exceeding 0.1% shall not be sold in the EU market.
Children can put imported toys and child care products, and the concentration of class 3 phthalates (DINP, DIDP and DnOP) contained in their plastics shall not exceed 0.1%.
Toys and child care products with DINP, DIDP and DnOP concentrations exceeding 0.1% shall not be sold in the EU market.
Obviously, the content restrictions on DEHP, DBP and BBP will affect all toys and child care products, not just toys and child care products that can be imported by children. The reason is that these three substances are classified as (Category II reproductive poisons) in the official risk assessment. On the other hand, the Directive states that the scientific evidence on DINP, DIDP and DnOP is insufficient or controversial. Therefore, the EU adopts the precautionary principle, that is, taking measures according to possible risks rather than actual risks to limit the role of DINP, DIDP and DnOP, but the restrictions are relatively loose.
