Battery UN38.3 certification

UN38.3 refers to paragraph 38.3 of Part 3 of the United Nations Manual of tests and standards for the transport of dangerous goods specially formulated for the transport of dangerous goods in the United Nations, hereinafter referred to as UN38.3. In accordance with the relevant provisions of the dangerous goods rules of the International Aviation Association, all airlines have made relevant testing provisions for mobile phone batteries, notebook computer batteries, interphone batteries, camera batteries, remote control toy batteries and other products applicable to rechargeable lithium batteries transported alone or with equipment, For products containing lithium batteries, the testing requirements are 38.3 in part 3 of the United Nations Manual of tests and standards for the transport of dangerous goods, i.e. UN38.3.
UN38.3 scope of certified products
1. Various power secondary batteries (such as power vehicle battery, electric road vehicle battery, electric tool battery, hybrid vehicle battery, etc.);
2. Various mobile phone batteries (such as lithium ion battery, lithium polymer battery, nickel metal hydride battery, etc.);
3. Various small secondary batteries (such as notebook computer battery, digital camera battery, camera battery, various cylindrical batteries, wireless communication battery, portable DVD battery, CD and MP3 player battery, etc.);
Lithium battery UN38.3 certification test items:
1. Height simulation (test T1)
Under the conditions of pressure ≤ 11.6kpa and temperature 20 ± 5 ℃.
2. Thermal test (test T2)
The high and low temperature impact test shall be conducted at 75 ± 2 ℃ and - 40 ± 2 ℃. The storage time at the limit temperature shall be ≥ 6h, the high and low temperature conversion time shall be ≤ 30min, the impact shall be 10 times, the storage at room temperature (20 ± 5 ℃) shall be 24h, and the total test time shall be at least one week.
3. Vibration test (T3)
Complete a reciprocating logarithmic sweep sinusoidal vibration from 7Hz to 200Hz within 15min and 12 vibrations in three-dimensional direction within 3h;
4. Shock (test T4)
150g, 6ms or 50g, 11ms half sine impact, 3 times in each installation direction, 18 times in total;
5. External short circuit (test T5)
Short circuit at 55 ± 2 ℃ and external resistance < 0.1 Ω, and the short circuit time lasts for 1h after the battery temperature returns to 55 ± 2 ℃.
6. Test T6 on primary and secondary cells to assess impact and crushing
9.1kg weight falls on the battery with 15.8mm round rod from 61 ± 2.5cm height, and the surface temperature of the battery is detected.
7. Test T7 is used for secondary battery to evaluate the impact of overcharge
Overcharge the battery for 24h under the condition of 2 times of continuous charging current and 2 times of large charging voltage.
8. Test T8 is also performed on primary and secondary batteries to evaluate forced discharge
The battery is connected in series with 12V DC power supply for forced discharge with large discharge current
