Waterproof test

The waterproof test is applicable to electrical and electronic products that may suffer from flushing during transportation, storage or use. This water comes from heavy rain, wind and rain, sprinkler system, wheel splashing, flushing or violent waves. The relevant specifications shall specify whether the electrical and electronic products must work normally during the test, or whether they can only withstand flushing conditions and remain intact.
There are waterproof test requirements for portable, outdoor and automotive electronics, and corresponding test requirements are formulated internationally, whether IEC, mil, ETSI or SAE.
Waterproof grade
IEC / en60529 waterproof is divided into 9 grades (grade 0 ~ grade 8), waterproof grade (e.g. IPx4 - waterproof grade 4):
Level 0: completely waterproof and unprotected
Level 1: dripping water in the vertical direction shall have no harmful effect
Level 2: when each vertical plane of the shell is inclined within 15 °, the vertical dripping shall have no harmful effect
Level 3: drench water within 60 ° of each vertical plane without harmful effects
Level 4: splashing water in all directions of the shell has no harmful effects
Level 5: spraying water in all directions of the shell has no harmful effects
Level 6: spray water strongly in all directions of the shell without harmful effects
Level 7: after immersion in water with specified pressure for specified time, the water inflow of the shell will not reach harmful level
Level 8: according to the conditions agreed by the manufacturer and the user (which shall be more severe than level 7), the water inflow of the shell will not reach harmful level after continuous diving
