Battery IEC 62133 test

On February 7, 2017, the International Association of electrotechnical commissioners (IECEE) officially issued the safety standards iec62133-1:2017 and iec62133-2:2017 for single batteries and battery packs (including lithium and nickel batteries) containing alkaline or non acid electrolyte for portable electronic products. This is another major upgrade and revision of IEC62133 standard after the release of the second edition of IEC62133 in 2012. According to the division of lithium battery and nickel battery, iec62133:2012 edition is divided into iec62133-1 and iec62133-2 standards;
The newly issued standards iec62133-1:2017 and iec62133-2:2017 will replace iec6133:2012 as the international general standard for the safety requirements of single battery and battery pack containing alkaline or non acid electrolyte for portable electronic products.
Compared with iec62133:2012, iec62133-1:2017 and iec62133-2:2017 have some important changes in technical content;
Iec62133-1:2017 single battery and battery pack containing alkaline or non acid electrolyte for portable electronic products. Part I nickel series: included in the requirements for button batteries. Previously, iec62133:2012 standard was not included in button batteries.
Iec62133-2:2017 single battery and battery pack containing alkaline or non acid electrolyte for portable electronic products. Part II lithium series is included in the requirements of button battery. Previously, iec62133:2012 standard was not included in the button srkjn cell;
Update the requirements for cell assembly battery in Clause 5.6; Added mechanical test [vibration, impact] (7.3.8.1; 7.3.8.2); IEC tr62914 is added as a reference.
What is the difference between the new version of IEC62133 and the old version
The main technical changes of the new version of lithium battery iec62133-2:2017 regulations include:
1. The new version of IEC62133 standard divides lithium battery and nickel battery into two standards. The limited nickel battery corresponds to iec62133-1:2017 and the lithium battery corresponds to iec62133-2:2017
2. Incorporate the lithium button battery into the new iec62133-2:2017 standard;
3. Battery pretreatment:
Old version: the cell and battery need to be charged and pretreated under high and low temperature conditions respectively;
New version: only charge the cell according to the charging method declared by the manufacturer.
4. External short circuit test:
Old version: the external short circuit test of the cell is carried out at 20 ± 5 ° C
The external short circuit test of the battery is carried out at 55 ± 5 ° C
New version: the external short circuit test of the cell is carried out at 55 ± 5 ° C
The external short circuit test of the battery is carried out at 20 ± 5 ° C
5. Thermal shock test:
Old version: keep the cell in the oven at 130 ± 2 ° C for 10 minutes and the large cell for 30 minutes
New version: keep the cell in an oven at 130 ± 2 ° C for 30 minutes;
6. Extrusion test:
Old version: the test pressure is 13 ± 1 kn, and the test cut-off conditions are: the maximum pressure reaches; Voltage drop 1 / 3; 10% deformation;
New version: the test pressure is 13kn ± 0.78kn. The test cut-off conditions are: the maximum pressure reaches and the voltage drops by 1 / 3;
7. Overcharge test:
Old version: charge with 2C current constant current, and the voltage reaches: (5 × n) Voltage, n refers to the number of series cells; Test cut-off conditions: until the battery surface temperature returns to room temperature or within half an hour, the temperature change is less than 10 degrees;
New version: charge with 2C current constant current, and the voltage reaches:
Single cell battery: charge to 1.4 with 2C current constant current × Upper limit charging voltage, no more than 6V
Multi cell battery: charge to (1.2) with 2C current constant current × Upper charging voltage × n) , n refers to the number of series cells; Test cut-off conditions: until the battery surface temperature returns to room temperature or the temperature change is less than 10 ℃ within half an hour;
8. Forced discharge test
Old version: the discharged cell is charged in reverse with 1C current for 90 minutes;
New version: the discharged cell is charged in reverse with 1C current to the negative value of the upper limit charging voltage for 90 minutes.
9. Transportation section test
Old version: test items of all transport chapters of iec62281;
New edition: only vibration and acceleration shock are evaluated
10. Add the AC internal resistance test item of battery.
