California 65 certification

California proposal No. 65, the drinking water safety and toxic substances Enforcement Act of 1986, was issued in November 1986. Its purpose is to protect California residents and the drinking water source of the state, so that the water source does not contain substances known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive and development hazards, and truthfully inform residents when such substances appear. California recently tightened the proposal 65 adopted before 1986, which attracted the attention of suppliers in various regions. The regulation lists more than 700 chemicals as "known to cause cancer" or "known to cause damage to the reproductive system", including common metals such as lead and cadmium; It also requires businesses to attach "clear and reasonable" warning labels to consumer goods that may release such substances.
Products covered by the proposal:
Jewelry, toys, electrical devices, glass-ceramic materials, clothing, ornaments, drugs, pesticides, dyes, cosmetics, gifts, manufacturing or construction supplies, by-products of chemical processes, such as automobile exhaust, smoke, natural gas combustion, etc., cover almost all products, and list the exposure scenarios of dangerous goods.
Core requirements of the proposal:
It is not allowed to discharge the hazardous substances listed in the proposal into the drinking water.
Provide clear and reasonable warnings (for listed substances, warnings must be given unless the exposure content is very low and will not cause risk).
Warning labels can be pasted on products, placed in workplaces and retail stores, or notices can be distributed and printed in newspapers and periodicals. It is generally recommended to stick them on products. The main content of the label is to describe that the product contains lead.
Hazardous substances mainly include:
Lead (PB)
Phthalates phthalates
Cadmium cadmium
Formaldehyde formaldehyde
Arsenic (as) arsenic
